Star Trek ? Brave New World ?

As we're diving deeper into this kind of stuff, I feel compelled to chip in. It just matters too much to me.

How we master technologies (engineering, consumer needs, sustainable development, laws, ethics, etc.) is crucial. As we're racing into this new millenium with no global ambition, I suggest one : perfect yourself and help others perfect themselves.

As individuals, our parents and grand parents got used to the machine. They could handle it. Today, networked machines and a more global preoccupation with the role of machines are making us discover social uses. Some grew with the radio, some with the tv, many will now grow with the Internet. Same goes for Oil and alternative energy. And you can go wide and deep in contexts and years where this type of comparison applies.

So, I'll report and comment on how we're doing that. And I'll comment these stories and ideas with my best knowledge and best intentions, based on my intuition, curiosity and info I gather around (citing sources will be my main preoccupation). My main question will always be: are we perfecting ourselves?
